Dohtonbori
The new Dohtonbori restaurant in Doncaster reflects authentic, modern hospitality design at its best, showcasing innovative dining zones for unique experiences, premium materials and luxe finishes, stunning custom artwork and feature lighting above the dining booths.
To the lease line are two semi-private booths partially screened by full height structures, creating a sense of drama and allure. The tan leather clad booths to the background are exceptionally inviting, and the natural oak porta moulding to the curves provide sophistication and next level beauty.
Think I’ll just slide on in and cook up some okonomiyaki on the Teppan hotplate!

But who can look passed the stunning artwork to the wall by artist Michelle Bridges, who has captured the soft tones and gradients to perfection, with a subtle floral and botanic theme. Such a show stopping colour palette and outstanding material selection.
The soft blush tones to the artwork are everything, complimenting the overall oak and tan aesthetic of the banquette dining booths, and the brass cylindrical light fittings.
The 3D visuals above, produced in the creative development phase illustrate the challenging corner tenancy position, and the unique dining zones within the space, highlighting the form and structure of the restaurant.
Embracing the botanical theme as part of the dining precinct guidelines for Westfield Doncaster, allowed the designers to apply the custom artwork throughout the restaurant providing a light airy feel as well as structure and subtle branding.
These curved forms of the booths again support the organic theme, as does the light fittings throwing shadow play against the mural.
Inside to the back of the restaurant the fit-out combines traditional with modern, with shōji (paper screen panels) to revealing private dining zones overlooking the streetscape below, with a mirrored ceiling and a traditional paper fan art installation to the wall.
A highlight and feature of the restaurant is the 360 degree bar, serving the the lease line and interior of the restaurant, with bottles of sake lining the brass shelves.
